Your job is to take overall responsibility for the effective delivery of a quality service through management of the day to day running of allocated services (whether residential, vocational, home support or otherwise). This includes professional leadership, support, guidance and management of Support Workers and responsibility for effective management of resources in line with the policies and principles of IDEA Services.
You'll be responsible for recruiting, coaching and setting clear expectations for a team of Support Workers; organising training, learning and development for staff; and managing budgets, facilities and staff performance.
You will have the ability to establish strong relationships with the people we support, staff, key funders and other community service organisations to support the delivery of quality person-centred services; be passionate about quality service delivery; show awareness and respect for different cultures and a commitment to the Treaty of Waitangi; be resilient, flexible and adaptable enough embrace change and to manage other matters as they arise. Reporting to the Regional General Manager IDEA Services, Area Managers provide leadership and direction to the Area Management Team as well as contributing to the development of the range and quality of the organisation's person-centred support services in a designated Area. This may well include the individual showing professional leadership, guidance and management of support staff. You will also be responsible for the effective management of resources in line with the policies and procedures of IDEA Services.
You'll be responsible for quality assurance and safety: organisational development; managing budgets and resources; developing strong networks in the community; be a champion for Advocacy and Self Advocacy.
You'll have the ability to look at the big picture and translate that into a strategic and business plan; have demonstrated financial management expertise and significant experience in making presentations, effective networking, negotiating, consulting, influencing and facilitation.
